Wanna hear a girl talk about learning to fly? Read on! This blog is primarily a way for me to process what I'm doing as part of digesting, critiquing, and growing with each experience.

Oh crap
After nearly 40 years of running our beloved JGG, the Waltrips want to sell it.
In the words of every Star Wars character, "I've got a bad feeling about this."
The story is not all that clear... Jean and Larry tell it differently.
Evidently the kinds of feasibility study listed on the front page of the Gazette needs to be commissioned by someone other than the airport owners.
I think part of what they are trying for is to show how valuable the field is to the community, so they can get leverage on issues such as the runway overrun which was denied in the 90s.
Anyway, the only way to know is to ask their side of the story too. I couldn't quite follow it after a day of hanging out watching Marine helicopters on Saturday.
I hope it all works out. JGG is a nice place that has great potential. It seems anymore battles with neighbors always pop up even though most problems move into the area with a well established airport.
I have concerns about the county taking control. I work for a place that came in after the respective counties worked their magic on WWD, MIV and ILG. Needless to say the three airports are now turning around, seeing growth. Operations is running safely with the airfield maintained with new technology.
Mary and I just reserved a room in April. We are heading down to see Mannheim Steamroller in concert at the Ferguson Center and to spend a few days at Busch gardens. I hope the weather will be looking good!
Time to be careful, maybe put in a call to the AOPA airport guys. They have had great success in keeping Oceanside Airport (OKB) here in SOCAL open.
ReplyDeleteCheers,
BC
